From large domes to carbon fiber sculptures, racing cars to restaurants interiors, Dubai-based Advanced Fibreglass Industries is a leader in the use of composites in manufacturing.

Composite Domes are extremely hard wearing, lightweight, and self-supporting structures made from a sandwich of glass fibre and epoxy resin composites with a thermoplastic, structural core.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Turkmenistan – 26m Sphere

The 16-story skyscraper in Ashgabat has a 26-m diameter spherical conference room at its top, decorated with a map of the world made using mosaic tiles. AFI manufactured the sphere that is constructed of more than 300 double curvature composite panels bolted together and supported by a metal substructure at its manufacturing premises in Dubai.

The panels were trucked to Ashgabat where it was assembled onsite. Thanks to the use of sandwich technology, the weight of the panels was kept low, ensuring quick, easy installation on site.

The project in total – from design to mold, to manufacturing, to installation took the team of AFI, 6 (six) months to complete.

Dome – Congress Center Turkmenistan

Composite Domes are extremely hard wearing, lightweight, and self-supporting structures made from a sandwich of glass fibre and epoxy resin composites with a thermoplastic, structural core.

In 2013 AFI was contracted by Bouygues Batiment International Construction for the manufacturing of a several of domes to be installed on the Congress buildings of government.

AFI designed a different kind of a structure as per client’s specifications and requirements. These domes had a cornered circular formation throughout a complete radius, forming the shape of a complete dome. It was a similar design for all four domes, and were manufactured using a vacuuming system to retain its strength, despite being a sensitive design.

This quality product was completed within the given time frame.

Ancient Palace Turkmenistan

Bouygues Batiment International Constructions selected AFI to carry out a prestigious project which included the designing, manufacturing and installation of a Dome for the ‘Ancient Palace in the beautiful capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat as part of the refurbishment of the palace.

AFI once again provided in client with a complete solution and a turn key product.

Louvers & Facades

In 2007, AFI was contracted with HMRT for the manufacturing of Resin Transfer Molding formed louvers & facades which are located at the parking area of terminal 3, Dubai International airport.

These louvers were installed in a radius form (as it was a curved building) at all levels of the parking area. The installation process was successfully carried out by team AFI, within the given time frame allocated as per contractual agreement.
